Frank “Paul” Fields, Jr., 82 of Morganton, NC died peacefully at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He was born June 15, 1935 in Buncombe County, NC and was the son of the late Frank Wesley Fields and Bonnie Christopher Fields. Frank was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and the American VFW Post in Morganton. He loved visiting the deer at Pattys Creek or going to Lake Julian to feed the ducks. But he mostly enjoyed mowing his grass and taking care of his lawn.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Frank Eugene Fields, Sr.; a sister, Elizabeth Fields; and a brother, Ellis Fields.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Watson Fields; daughter, Bonnie Fields Jolly and husband, John of Hickory; daughter-in-law, Pattie Fields Mullins; grandchildren, Tiffani Jolly, Victoria Fields and Frank “Bubba” Fields, Jr. of Morganton; brothers, Jack Wesley Fields of Palm Coast, FL and Arnold Fields of Denver, CO; sisters, Marjorie Jillette of Inverness, FL, Ruby Fields of Citrus Springs, FL, and Helen Fields Ducker of Asheville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family is planning a service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
