Frank William Benfield

Frank William Benfield, 72, of Morganton died Tuesday, April 17, 2018.  Born in Avery County, NC on September 28, 1945, he was the son of the late LaRue McClure Benfield and Nettie Jane McKinney Benfield.  Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was a gracious friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Christine Shuping Benfield of the home; sons, Charlie Benfield, Ray Shell, Davie Shuping, and Jamie Benfield; daughters, Teresa Biddix, Jennifer Shell, Natasha Teaster, Heather Ross, and Jackie Hart; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Bevins.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a daughter, Nell Benfield; and siblings, Frances Burgin, Gloria Turbyfill, Tommy Benfield, Bobby Benfield, and Dewey Greene.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will follow at 12 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.  The graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday in Newland Cemetery in Newland, NC.
