Fred Albert Stroup

Fred Albert Stroup, 68, of Morganton died Saturday, December 1, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on May 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Fred Hillard Stroup and Harriet Tron Stroup. Fred was a member of the Church of God Bible Study in Valdese, NC. A construction engineer, he was owner and operator of Solar Concepts, Inc and was an avid golfer.A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia Shuping Stroup of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Pierce of Somerset, KY; a son, Jason Lambert of Morganton; grandchildren, Jake Pierce, Jenson Pierce, and Ryan Lambert; brothers, Steven Stroup and his wife, Jane, and John Stroup and his wife, Kathy, both of Morganton; and two nieces, Susan Mayeux of Icard and Whitney Stroup of South Carolina.In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a nephew, Stevie Stroup.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Don Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
