Freddie “Gomer” Carroll Oliver, 70, of Connelly Springs died Thursday, September 29, 2016 after a period of declining health. He was born April 8, 1946 in Carter County, Tennessee to the late William Vance Oliver and Edna Reece Oliver. Freddie was a member of Icard Church of God and was a contributor to the Jerusalem Prayer Team. He retired from Broughton Police with 30 years of service and was a member of the NRA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Roosevelt Oliver.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Janice Oliver; children, Jerry White, Jr. of Drexel, Kevin White and wife, Shelly of Cary, LaDonna Earwood and husband, James of Davidson, and Jonathan White of Morganton; grandchildren, Zach White, Andrew Earwood and wife, Megan, Kourtney White, Kristen Earwood, Sarah White, Kali White, Brayden White, Addison White, and Sawyer White; sisters, Shirley Hollar of Hudson, and Evelyn Grindstaff of Tennessee; and his pets, Angel and Hosanna.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Icard Church of God with the Rev. Tim Campbell and Zach White officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Johnson City, Tennessee.
