Frieda Lee Buchanan

Frieda Lee Buchanan, 70, of Morganton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. She was born on September 20, 1948 in Burke County to the late Sterling Avery Powell and Ellen Jarrett Powell Jaynes. She was very strong in her beliefs and faithfully gave to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and to the Bible Month Club. She retired from Western Carolina Center. After her retirement, Frieda took care of her mother and other people in need. She loved listening to music especially Stevie Ray Vaughan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Kelly Buchanan and sister, Frances Powell.

She is survived by sons, Chris Buchanan and Kevin Buchanan, both of Concord, NC; sisters, Brenda Reed of Morganton and Camille Hall of Drexel; several special nieces and nephews; and her cats, Little Lion, Kiki, and Little Bit that were special to her.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will begin at 3:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kyle Canerday officiating. Burial will be at Bridge 42 cemetery.
