Gail Irene Nelson

Gail Irene Nelson, 82 of Morganton, NC passed away at Grace Ridge, Sunday, October 13, 2019. Born on March 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Belknap. Gail was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Skidmore College. Gail was a school board member for 10 years in Manalapan Engishtown, NJ. She was also a board member of the Phoenix Home for Boys and Girls in Morganton. Gail was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking. She taught meditation to the inmates at Western Correctional Institute and was a current member of Deep Springs Meditation Center in Michigan. Gail was a member of the All Community Choir.

Gail is survived by her husband, Robert A. Nelson; children, Robert P. Nelson of Hickory, NC, Mary E. Nelson and husband, Frank McGuire of Charleston, SC; brother, Michael Belknap and wife, Martha of NY; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Marshall Jolly officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
