Garry Lee Austin, 67, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017. He was born on March 1, 1950 in Caldwell County to the late Marcus Paul Austin and Ossie Maxine Mabe Austin. Garry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed hiking.
Garry is survived by his wife, Claudia Austin of the home; daughters, Amanda Harris and husband, Dan, of Raleigh and Heather Austin of Asheville; sister, Elaine Stroud and husband, Ed, of Vale; nephew, Neal McDavid; and father-in-law, Claude Lucas of Morganton.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Lane and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
