Gary Alan Benton, 55, of Morganton, NC passed away suddenly and is well with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Born on July 27, 1964, he was the son of Linda Johnson Benton and the late Horace Perry Benton. Gary was raised in the Baptist faith and was saved by his Lord. He retired from Broughton Hospital. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving fast cars.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen Schawel Benton; brother, Jody Benton (girlfriend, Melissa Jarrell); sister, Donna Lefevers (Ronnie); niece, Christy Lefevers; great-nieces, Lauren and Riley Land; step-children, Joshua Allen Callahan, Ashley Caitlyn Callahan; step-grandchild, Cloud Alexander Callahan.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm, Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will begin at 3:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ronnie Lefevers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
