Gary Wayne Adkins

Gary Wayne Adkins, 45 of Conley St., Morganton died February 4, 2012 at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. Born May 31, 1966 in Burke County, he was the son of Danny W. and Hilda Taylor Adkins of Morganton. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lonnie Adkins; maternal grandfather, Joseph Robert Taylor; and maternal grandmother, Margaret Taylor Propst and husband, Hugh.In addition to his parents he is survived by a son Bradley Adkins and his wife, Monica of Germany; a daughter, Alyshia Adkins of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren of Germany; a sister, Melissa Ford and husband, Tracy who are stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Portugal and their children, Gabrielle and Zachary; the paternal grandmother, Jimison Adkins of Morganton.A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Brookwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Cross officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall beginning at 1:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home on Conley St. Memorial gifts may be made to Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
