Gay Prewitt, 75, of Morganton, NC was serenaded by angels as she was carried to heaven on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on October 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Hazel Prewitt. In addition to her parents, Gay was preceded in death by a brother, Sherley Prewitt; and a sister, Helen Conley.
Gay cherished the time spent with family, friends, co-workers, and church family on life’s journey. She was blessed with many special, long lasting friends, especially Martha Warlick, Trent Ramsey, and David Lane. She was an incredibly generous, kind, loyal, strong, thoughtful person, and she was steadfast in her faith in Jesus.
Gay enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved music, traveling (Israel was her favorite), antiquing, and eating out. She was the ultimate social butterfly when she was out having fun.
She graduated from Salem High School where she was also a cheerleader and completed courses at Western Piedmont Community College. She retired from Western Carolina Center after 34 years of service.
Gay is survived by a daughter, Ginger Brittain; a sister, Jackie Holland (Jim); 2 brothers, Gary Prewitt (Sherron) and Ralph Prewitt (Susan); and six nephews who were dear to her.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating the life of Gay at 3 pm, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Cline and her nephew, Cameron Prewitt, officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 2 to 3 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
