Gaye Campbell Walton

Gaye Campbell Walton, 75, formerly of US 64 West, Morganton passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born in Catawba County, NC on August 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur B. Campbell and Minnie Hawn Campbell. Gaye was a member of Linville United Methodist Church. In 2001 she retired from Shadowline following 31 years of employment. She loved flower gardening, her beagles, her Tonkinese cat, "Stormy", and country music. She was a very loving aunt.Gaye is survived by her step-daughter, Del Walton of Morganton; a brother, Ben Neil Campbell of Maiden, NC; nieces, Vicky Campbell Whitmire, Debbie Campbell Propst, Kelly Campbell Moose, Marilyn Campbell McKiddy, and Marsha Campbell Nelson; and sisters-in-law, Mary Walton Kent and Eleanor Walton Neal.In addition to her parents, Gaye was preceded in death by her husband, C. L. Walton, Jr.; a step-daughter, Anna Frances Walton; and a brother, Glenn Campbell.The funeral will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dcn. Michael L. Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service.
