Gaynell Thompson, 93 died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in Raleigh, NC where she had resided for the past 13 years. She was born in Burke County, the daughter of the late Anderson and Dollie McBee McCall. Gaynell was known for her wonderful generosity, strong faith in the Lord, and great love for family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Thompson; her younger brothers, Clyde, Clarence, Forest, Carl, and Bernie McCall.
Surviving are her son, Patrick Thompson and his wife, Magdalene of Raleigh; grandchildren and their spouses, Vic and Mary Thompson of Huntersville, NC, Jenny and Joe Kelvington of Raleigh, and Susan and Shane McCarthy of Portsmouth, RI; and 8 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverends Ken Curtis and Larry Fletcher officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Burke Memorial Park will follow the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 2314 Starnes St., Morganton, NC 28655.
