Gene C. Williams

Gene C. Williams, 73, of Pete Brittain Rd., Morganton, NC died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Wake Forest University Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Danville, VA on January 16, 1933 and was the son of the late Carl L. Williams and Ruby Estelle Goodson Williams. Mr. Williams owned Williams Autos and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Gene was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church and enjoyed golf, horseback riding, and participating in beagle field trials.

Gene was a loving husband and father and a devoted friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jonnie Fox Williams, of the home; five children; four step-children; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren: his sister, Joyce McKee and her husband, Charles of Swansboro, NC and his many special friends.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2006 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home, 754 Pete Brittain Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
