George Allen Ollis

George Allen Ollis, 35, of Morganton died Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born in Burke County on January 23, 1978 and was a son of Joe Allen Ollis and Wanda Jane Cordell Ollis. George enjoyed scouting, playing all sports, and was an avid UNC fan, especially Tarheel basketball.A loving father, son, and brother, George is survived by his son, Devin Ollis of the home and Devin’s mother, Tabitha Abee of Morganton; his father and step-mother, Joe and Martha Ollis; his mother, Wanda Ollis; a brother and his wife, Tim and Emily Ollis and their daughter, Dawn; step-sister, Chesley Peabody; paternal grandmother, Edith Singleton; aunts and uncles, Nancy Dale, Sandy Cordell, Steve and Marcella Crawford, Jim and Becky Smith, Debbie Loftis, Johnny and Kay Ollis, Cecil and Carolyn Ollis, Paul Ollis, Ricky and Diana Singleton, David and Vennie Singleton; cousins, Kevin Dale, Amy Snow, Otis Cordell, Daisy Cordell, Kristy Cordell, Michael Ollis, Sherry Causby and her husband, Jim, Brian Crawford, and a number of other cousins.Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. David Mills and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 p.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sossoman Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, PO Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to assist with funeral expenses.
