George “Elbert” Golightly

George “Elbert” Golightly, 96, of Morganton entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  Born in April 13, 1925, he was the son of the late W. A. Golightly and Florence Singleton Golightly.  In addition to his parents, Elbert was preceded in death by a son, Steven Golightly; daughter, Dorcas Beasley; brothers, Lester, Vernon, and Kenneth Golightly; and sisters, Evelyn Abee and Elma Clontz.  He was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.

Mr. Golightly is survived by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Martin Golightly; son, Martin Golightly, three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. David Orders officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
