George “Marty” Bruns, Jr.

George “Marty” Bruns, Jr., 56 of Morganton died Friday, February 28, 2020.  Born January 5, 1964 in McDowell County, he was the son of George Martin Bruns, Sr. and Mildred Merle Parkins Bruns.

Marty was a veteran of the NC National Guard.  He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church.   Marty was adored by his grandchildren, as they were a light in his life.  He had an in depth understanding and passion for all things of nature, and found his ultimate peace and serenity while enjoying all the outdoors had to offer.

Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Riley Parkins, Bonnie Parkins, Charles Earnest Bruns, and Maude Clay Bruns.

In addition to his parents, Marty is survived by his son, Hunter Lee Bruns (Sarah); grandchildren, Luke, Hadley, and Ava Bruns; sister, Lori Renninger (Danny “Clown”); niece, Jordan Sparks (Caleb); and his beloved dog, “BoBo”.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m., in the Colonial Chapel with Chaplin Mike Costner officiating.
