George R. Dale

George R. Dale, 83, of Morganton departed this Earth to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, July 4, 2013. George was born in Burke County on April 25, 1930 to the late Jink Dale and Jessie Seagle Dale. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Dale retired in 1995 from Henredon Furniture after 35 years of service. George was a handyman and loved to drive around the lake and on other country roads. He loved his family.George is survived by his children, Renee Byrd and her husband, Keith, of Morganton; Jane Denny of Conover, NC; Steve Dale of Newton, NC, and Todd Dale of Morganton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph Dale and his wife, Hazel, of Tip-Top, Bertha Scott of Glen Alpine, NC, Louise Whisenant of Morganton, and Mary Sigmon and her husband, Harold, of Conover; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Betty Evans Dale; a grandson, Phillip Dale; and brothers, William, Earnest, Albert, and Millard Dale.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
