Committal
George Richard Barlow, 80, of Morganton, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 after a period of declining health.
Born in Burke County, NC on November 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Roy Richard Barlow and Margaret Estelle Hern Barlow. George was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church and a former member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.
Mr. Barlow was a loving, dedicated family man who enjoyed horseback riding. He also enjoyed fishing, having won several tournaments. George was a caring, talented person who wasn’t afraid to tackle any job and was also helping people. He was talented in many trades and worked in supervisory roles at Knob Creek and Masterpiece. He was a self-employed lampshade maker and a salesman for Foothills Marine.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Watts Barlow; sons, Richard Brian Barlow (Julie) and Patrick Kristen Barlow (Ashley); daughter, Leisha Barlow; grandchildren, Hillary Fitzgerald (Michael), Richard Brian Barlow, II (Jessica), Bailey Buchanan (Trevor), Caden Barlow, and Nora Barlow; great-grandchildren, Raylee and Case Buchanan, and Penelope and Elinore Fitzgerald; brother, Rev. Charles Barlow (Mildred); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Yates Barlow (Jean).
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024 at North Morganton Baptist Church. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Gary Garner and Rev. Charles Barlow officiating.

So sorry to read this. Richard was so good to work with me with boat ownership over the years. Peace and Blessings to you Brian and extended familys.
I'm so sorry to hear about my friend Richard. He helped us so much when we started our lamp business . We never would have made it without his knowledge and humor. I will miss him.
Appreciate the time I had to be around Richard during fishing related activities. A really super nice guy to a very young guy such as myself. Always a smile and friendly. Blessings to the family and friends during this time.
My sincere condolences to Peggy and family. Your family were really good neighbors to my parents on View Street. Richard was helpful in looking out for our property. May God bless each of you during this most difficult time in your lives. You remain in my most sincere prayers.
Richard was one of a kind he could do just about anything he was a good friend and help you in anyway he could he will be surely missed
