George Rufus Baldwin

George Rufus Baldwin, 83, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born in Watauga County, NC on January 10, 1928, he was the son of the late James Monroe Baldwin and Lora Coffey Baldwin. George enjoyed woodworking and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Annette Brittain Baldwin of the home; daughters, Connie Baldwin Whisnant and husband, Greg, and Donna Baldwin Cresawn and husband, Edward, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Jason Cresawn, Natasha Vang, and Ben Whisnant; four great-grandchildren; a brother, James Dula of Lenoir, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Dr. Burt Wilbur officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
