George William Leonhardt

George William Leonhardt, Jr., 80, of Valdese Avenue, Morganton, NC, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at his residence. Born in Burke County, NC on March 5, 1928, he was the son of the late George William Leonhardt, Sr and Beulah Lambert Leonhardt. George owned and operated Leonhardt’s Builder’s Supply Store for 36 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and work with his hands.He is survived by his wife, Clyde Phillips Leonhardt of the home; son, Frederic Kirk Leonhardt and George William Leonhardt, III, both of Morganton; daughters, Beth MacLean and husband, Pete, and Janice Armour and husband, Robert, all of Morganton; granddaughters, Emily Armour of Morganton and Meghan Armour of Valdese; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gail Leonhardt, and sisters, Gloria Harrison, Mary Herman, and Eva Plemmons.The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
