Committal
Gerald Bruce Hoglen, 69, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born in Haywood County, NC on May 5, 1955, he was the son of Betty Sue Carver Hoglen and the late Paul Fredrick Hoglen.
Gerald was a loving son, father, grandfather and uncle to his family and enjoyed every minute he could spend with them. He also enjoyed fishing, camping with family and friends, working with his son restoring old antique cars and trucks. Gerald retired after 24 years as a Sergeant at Foothills Correctional Facility.
In addition to his mother, Gerald is survived by his children, Tonya Beam (Darrell) and Jason Hoglen (Lorrie); grandchildren, Christopher Beam (Courtney) and their children, Matte and Lily Hoglen, and Caden Rhodes; sisters, Pam Sisk (and her daughter, Julie Sisk) and Paula Crawley (and her son, Brandon Crawley (Kim) and their children); and numerous extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm, Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Mount Home Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3pm in the sanctuary with Sid Houk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I worked with Gerald as my sergeant and I liked him very much. He was always fair with his decisions. He was jovial and made going to work pleasant. I pray for his family.
