Gerald Bruse Willis went home to God Friday, June the 28th, 2024. He was born in Cleveland County, in a small town called Belwood, NC. He was the son of the late Joseph Wilson Willis and Fern Whisnant Willis and was born January the 18th, 1945.
He was a farmer, mechanic, and welder. He enjoyed fishing and taking pictures. He served his community by welding, taking pictures, and being actively involved in his church when he was able to. Gerald was a member of St. Peter’s Methodist Church in Belwood, which is also in Lawndale, NC. Gerald served our country during the Vietnam war by being stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army where he was a mechanic. Gerald was a caregiver to anybody that needed it but especially his family when they were sick.
Mr. Willis is survived by his sister, Patricia Spangler, brother-in-law Terry Spangler, sister-in-law Jann Willis, his nieces and nephews David (Dave), Debbie, Rhonda, Daniel, Melinda, David, and Ginger (Virginia) ,many cousin nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Willis, and a sister, Janet Willis Bridges.
The family will receive friends and family from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6th, 2024 at St. Peter’s Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. David Irish and Rev. David Sain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
