Gerald Odis Deal

Gerald Odis Deal, 90 of Cook Rd., Valdese, NC died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Grace Heights, Morganton, NC. Born March 31, 1921 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late William and Gertrude Branch Deal. Odis was a World War II U. S. Navy veteran and was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Cook Deal; a brother, Ervin Deal and a half sister, Sylvia Branch.Surviving are his sons, Gerald Kerry Deal and his wife, Vickie of Conover, NC and Rodney Odis Deal of Florida; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Burke Memorial Park with Mr. Bill Bradshaw officiating. The N. C. National Guard will perform military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. At other times the family will be at the Deal home, 3792 Cook Rd., Valdese.
