Gerald Wise Orders

Gerald Wise Orders, 88, of Glen Alpine passed away Friday, April 26, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Marvin and Beulah Wise Orders.  Gerald was a member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.  He was a member of the Glen Alpine Fire Department, had served as town alderman, and had served as the treasurer and choir director of Glen Alpine Evangelical Methodist Church.  He retired from Duke Power.  Gerald was a top-notch handyman who loved fishing, boating, being in the outdoors, and socializing.

Mr. Orders is survived by his daughter, Annette Wright (Alan); and sister, Ola E. Turner.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann LaFevers Orders; grandson, Wesley Russ; brothers, Clyde M., Roy L., Raymond T., Harry J., Charles H., and Bennett L. Orders.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Monday, April 29, 2019 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.  The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. in the church with Rev. Cris Uren officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery.
