Gilbert “Gil” Richard Dale

Gilbert “Gil” Richard Dale, 78, of Morganton, NC passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 26, 1938 and was the son of the late Conley Roosevelt Dale and Hattie Elizabeth Franklin Dale. Gil was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with family. Gil was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher. A US military veteran, he served in the Navy and Air Force retiring with 21 years of service
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Roy E. Dale; and step-daughter, Charla Young.
Gil is survived by his wife, Annis Black of the home; his children, Deborah McCurry and husband, Gary, Pamela Dale Jordan, and Michael Dale and wife, Audrea; and their mother, Tommie Dale; grandchildren, Seth Gardner, Jason Jordan, Alex Dale, and Aaron Dale; step-children, Julie Hefner and husband, Randy, Chuck Black, and Russell Caffrey.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
