Gilda Shuping Hubbard

Gilda Shuping Hubbard, 89, of Drexel, NC went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Born on August 21, 1925 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late David Harrison Shuping and Celeste Hollar Shuping. Gilda was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Valdese, NC. She retired from Drexel Knitting Mill and loved to work outside in her flower garden.
Gilda is survived by her son, Milburn Ray Hubbard and his wife, Joyce, of Valdese; a granddaughter, Annette Hubbard Turner and her husband, Ronnie, of Catawba, NC; great-grandsons, Brett and Jared Turner of Catawba; sisters, Betty Shuping Williams of Morganton and Virginia Shuping Webb of Drexel, NC; and other extended family.
In addition to her parents, Gilda was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Milburn Hubbard; a daughter, Judy Ann Moore; a daughter-in-law, Linda Wells Hubbard; a brother, William David Shuping; and a sister, Millie Dean Huffman.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Pastor Doyle Holder and Pastor Rocky Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until noon prior to the service.
