Girlie Cornette Baldridge

Girlie Cornette Baldridge, 92, of Rawleigh St. in Drexel went home to be with her Heavenly Father and family on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Autumn Care of Drexel following an extended illness. She was born April 6, 1918 in Fannin County, GA, and was a daughter of the late Monroe T. Cornette and Josie Davenport Cornette. Girlie was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings Plant #1.She is survived by sons, Herman Baldridge, Dennis Baldridge and wife, Winona, all of Drexel, and James Baldridge and wife, Judy, of Valdese; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, W. "Lonnie" Baldridge; a son, Charles Baldridge; a daughter, Dorothy Baldridge Green; seven brothers; and one sister.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Bentley officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
