Glen Edison Chapman, 92, of Connelly Springs, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on February 17, 1932. He was the son of the late Edison Chapman and Bessie Lee Chapman. Glen was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Connelly Springs. Mr. Chapman retired from the US Postal Service before becoming a bail bondsman. He loved to travel, was an avid outdoorsman and captivating storyteller. Glen enjoyed watching sports, especially the Red Sox and NASCAR, and spending time with his family.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Alice Smith Chapman; son, Glen Ray Chapman; daughter, Barbara Jean Chapman McCoy (Samuel); grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth McCoy Morris (Brian), Samuel Robert McCoy, Jr. (Lindsey), Marvin Alexander McCoy, and Jesse Edison Chapman (Julie); great-grandchildren, Robert Brian Morris, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Morris, Samuel Benjamin Morris, Jenna Chapman, Jakob Chapman, Amelia McCoy, Joslyn Chapman, Samuel Robert McCoy, III, and Benjamin Wyatt McCoy; sister, Iva Chapman Rhoney (Ronald); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by brothers, Quinton, Buren, G.W., J.P., Richard, and Fred Chapman; and sisters, Beatrice Chapman and Mary Lou Mull.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Revs. Randy Cook and Keith Fulbright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
