Glenda Faye Thompson

Glenda Faye Thompson, 77, of Newland, NC, went to her heavenly home Thursday, November 3, 2022.

Born in Burke County, NC on May 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Virgil W. Barrier and Wilma Barrier.  Glenda was a member of Jonas Ridge Baptist Church.  She was a loving and devoted mother and nana who especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  She found satisfaction in her work at Eseeola Lodge and thought of her coworkers as family.  Glenda loved hiking and the outdoors.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Jolene Trivett Cartwright (Keith) and Melissa “Missy” Trivett Estep (Mike); grandchildren, Brandon Watson, Katelyn Cartwright, Landon Estep (Haley), and Jenna Cartwright; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Barrier Shell and Sandy Barrier Henderson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Barrier, Jr. and Richard Barrier.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Jonas Ridge Baptist Church.  A celebration of Glenda’s life will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Phil Branch officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Jonas Ridge Assisted Living and Medi Home Hospice for the loving, compassionate care shown to Glenda.
