Glenn “Babe” Franklin, 57, of Morganton died Friday, February 27, 2015. Glenn was born June 6, 1957 in Burke County to the late Winfred Monroe Franklin and Lonnie Smith Franklin.
Glenn was a member of Celebration Family Worship Center. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather. He came alive when he interacted with his babies, they loved him unconditionally and he loved them. They called him “Pop-Pop”. Glenn was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to grill and cook, and loved to be outdoors. He loved Jesus and recently moved to Heaven. His prayer was that all of you would join him one day. Please think about your eternal destination. There are only two choices, choose HEAVEN!!!!
Glenn is survived by his wife, Nancy Carlisle Franklin; sons, Jonathan Kirk and SPC Jeremiah Kirk and Krystal stationed in Kansas; daughters, Alyssa Kelley and Wesley of Morganton and Samantha Kirk and David Burgess of Cleveland; a grand-daughter, Adelynn; grandsons, Jonathan and Kathan; sisters, Anne Buchanan and Robert Barnette and Lynn Franklin; brothers, Dysart Franklin and Becky, Wayne Franklin and Jimmy Franklin and Barbara; a niece, Robbin Buchanan and a number of other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Rocky McLendon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Celebration Family Worship Center, 3058 Morganton Furniture Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
