Glenn Dexter Franklin, 81, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He died peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Burke County on June 8, 1941 to the Late Fannie Luiza Franklin. Glenn served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1967. He later went on to work for the United States Postal Office, where he served the Morganton branch for 20 years, retiring in 2003.

A devoted husband, Glenn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Faye Franklin, and his four children, Brian Franklin, Marty Franklin (Shannon), Lori Bates (Greg) and Chris Franklin (Brandy). He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Samantha Borders (Chaz), Dylan Franklin (Toni), Taylor Franklin, Breanna Franklin, Breanna Michaels, David Bates and Marissa Franklin, and had the joy of welcoming two great grandchildren, Christian and Noelle Franklin. Glenn also has three brothers in laws, Bobby Riddle (Rosemary), Harold Riddle (Jean), and Rex Riddle (Geraldine).

Glenn is preceded in death by brothers, Coy Franklin, Edison Franklin, Wilburn Franklin, and Alvin Franklin; sisters, Dora Franklin, Lena Seagle, Patsy Drummond, Margie Ross, and Flossie Benfield.

Glenn was a life-long member of Hartland Missionary Methodist Church where he served on the Steward Board and taught Sunday School. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend Denny Watts and feeding anyone who walked through his door. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in his tomatoes.

The family will receive friends Monday December 19, 2022 from 1-2pm at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton. The service will be held at 2pm in the Colonial Chapel at Sossoman Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Danny Carr. Burial will follow at Hartland Missionary Methodist Church in Morganton, NC.
