It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Douglas Lowrance Jr.. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he left us peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann Lowrance, and their cherished son, Jeff Lowrance; along with eight adoring grandchildren: Alex Mangum, Hank Yelton, Jonah Lowrance, Charlie Yelton, Claudia Lowrance, Simon Lowrance, Lucy Yelton, and Samuel Lowrance.
Glenn proudly served his country in the Air Force for 4 years and continued his dedication through 29 years in the Air National Guard. His commitment to community service extended to his role as Postmaster of Glen Alpine for 24 years, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many.
Known for his warm spirit and lively conversations, Glenn was a great husband, a wonderful dad and granddaddy. He had a passion for fast cars and enjoyed snow skiing in his younger days. He was also a fan of Tommy's BBQ and Tony's grape ice cream, relishing the simple pleasures of life. Glenn’s love for people was evident in his many friendships; he had an extraordinary ability to connect with everyone he met and often found it hard to sit still for long.
His vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we remember Glenn, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Services for Glenn will be private.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Leave a tribute for Glenn Douglas Lowrance Jr..
There could never be a friend that was any better than Glenn. Everyone knew the deep devotion and love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was also extremely devoted to and always there for his friends and was always the life of the party. We all feel extreme grief that he is gone, but we know he has certainly made Heaven a little brighter with his sense of humor and energy. He was loved by everyone that knew him and will never be forgotten. It is just too bad that he could not have taken his much loved dune buggy with him so that he could ride the streets of gold and toot his Dukes of Hazzard horn. Ahh, the sweet memories of that precious man. I just hope they have whole Flounder and Diet Mountain Dew in heaven for him.
Ann & Jeff, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Glenn. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Sending my prayers to the Lowrance family.
