Glenn R. Roper

Glenn R. Roper, 80, of the Salem Community, Morganton, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 while surrounded by his family. Born in Burke County, NC on February 21, 1931, he was the son of the late John William Roper and Ethel Puckett Roper. Glenn was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Henredon Furniture for many years and retired from Franklin and Ross Electrical Company.Glenn is survived by his brother, Alvin Roper of Morganton; a sister, Elsie Roper of Morganton; a special niece, Janet Davis; a special cousin, Margaret Carswell; a niece, Lara Wilson; nephews, Kenneth, Joe, and Ben Roper; friends, Lloyd and Joann Ross, David and Janette Dale, and Chris and Cindy Ross; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; and 2 great-great-nieces.In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Ned J. Roper, and sisters-in-law, Marie Roper and Rosemary Roper.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church with Reverends Mark Conforti, Bob Deviney, and David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
