Glenn "Tom" E. Huffman

Glenn “Tom” E. Huffman, 64, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, August 8, 2015.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 1, 1951, he was the son of Lela Denton Huffman Seitz of Morganton and the late Glenn L. Huffman.  Tom was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  He worked for many years at Drexel-Heritage Furnishings Plant 60 until its closing.  He then worked for several years for Burke County Public Schools.  Tom loved learning and attended Western Piedmont Community College for almost 10 years.  He was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his mother, Tom is survived by his brother, Johnny “Huffy” Huffman and his wife, Jessie, of Morganton; sisters, Patsy Huffman Earl and her husband, Donald, of Las Vegas, NV and Brenda Huffman Stewart and her husband, Randy, of Bristol, FL; a nephew, Brian Poteet; nieces, Angela Poteet and Brandy Huffman; and a number of great-nephews, great-nieces, uncles, and aunts.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Denton officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
