Grace Burleson Dockery

Grace Burleson Dockery, 78, of Bass Street, Valdese, NC, went to be with her heavenly Father and her beloved husband on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Grace Hospital. Born in Avery County, NC on November 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Burleson and Nettie Wise Burleson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, T. J. Burleson and Ralph Burleson and his wife, Helen. Grace was a retired employee of Duracell and a member of North Laurel Baptist Church.A loving mother and devoted grandmother, she is survived by her daughters, Margaret Shoemake and husband, Clifton, of Valdese and Cathy Dockery of Morganton; a brother, Don Burleson of Morganton; a sister, Trudy Brock of Valdese; and grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Davis and husband, Jason, and their children, Cadence and Marshall, all of Valdese, Charles Shoemake and wife, Alicia, and their son, Harrison, all of Valdese, Amity Jill Wilson and her daughter, LeAire Grace, of Morganton, and Derek Dean Wilson and wife, Lisa, and their children, Connor and Kayla, all of Buford, GA.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
