Grace Harrison Epley

Grace Harrison Epley, 83, of Morganton, NC, born on March 14, 1933 went to be with her Savior on Monday, August 22, 2016.
Grace has longed to see her many loved ones whom she has missed so much which include her deceased son, Alton Leroy Epley; parents, Alfred Harrison, Jr. and Era Lingafeldt Harrison; sister, Mattie Harrison McKenzie; and an infant sister.
Mrs. Epley leaves behind her, loving husband, Ivey Leory “Ted” Epley of 63 years; daughter, Donna Parlier; and her husband, Thomas of Morganton; son, Kenneth and his wife, Janet of Yadkinville, NC; daughter-in-law, Becky Epley of Morganton; grandson, Kolby Epley and wife, Erin of Lewisville, NC; granddaughters, Elisabeth Parlier, Jane Lawing and husband, Sam, and Samantha Epley; step-granddaughters, Amy Dixon and Karen Shore; great-grandsons, Brady and Luke Lawing; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Epley is also survived by sisters, Margaret Duckworth and husband, Charles, Brenda Perry and husband, Eddie, and Ethel Fields; and brothers, Bennet Harrison and wife, Barbara, and Parks Harrison and wife, Nancy.
Mrs. Epley was a lifelong member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. She loved the many things that she did for her church. Mrs. Epley was a previous president and secretary for the W.M.U., chairman of the Primary Department, nursery worker, secretary of her Sunday school class for years; and choir member. She was on the flower committee and fixed beautiful flowers for church each Sunday. At one time Mrs. Epley cooked meals at the church for Wednesday night dinner. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club. In addition to her church involvement, Mrs. Epley worked for twenty-one years for Child Nutrition Program of Burke County. Mrs. Epley loved to travel and she booked a lot of people for Toney Tours. She loved to sing with her sister and brothers as the “Harrisons”.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Catawba Valley Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. David Orders and Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690 or to Catawba Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 107 Valley View Street, Morganton, NC 28655.
