Grady A. Carswell

Grady A. Carswell, 76, of Nebo, NC died Sunday, January 5, 2020.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Malcolm Carswell and Grace Ellen Jordan Carswell.  Grady was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and was a friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Carswell of the home; son, Brad Wilson; daughter, Aysun Wilson; granddaughter, Rain Wilson; brother, Howard Carswell and wife, Pam; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunt, Yvonne Jordan; sisters-in-law, Rita and Alma Carswell; and his special cat, Tiger.

In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by five siblings, Barbara Jean Reep, Lillie Mae Branch, Malcolm T. Carswell, Jr., Elizabeth Pearl Jackson, and Charles Wayne Carswell.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the wife, Kathy Carswell, care of Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
