Greta Clark Waters

Greta Clark Waters, 85, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 with her children by her side. Born on September 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Robert Watkins Clark and Julia Agnes Poteat Clark.

Greta was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Greta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had an infectious laugh. She worked at WMNC Radio Station for years. Greta was happily married to Roy Waters for 65 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children. She most enjoyed large family gatherings where she would sing, laugh, and cook for the family and share time with her mom, sister, and extended family.

Greta is survived by her husband, Roy Waters; children, Julia Waters Sims (Jeff) and Chip Waters (Terri); grandchildren, Travis Sims, Brett Sims-Mikesell (Kyle), Joey Waters; sister, Rita Clark Brittain; brother, Kenneth Clark (Francis); three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Roy is at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation, 306 Deer Park Rd., Nebo and would welcome any visitors anytime.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
