Guy McGinnis

Guy McGinnis, 70, of Morganton went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born in McDowell County, NC on September 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Alvin Luther McGinnis and Iva Johnson McGinnis. Guy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He retired from Dana Corporation / Sypris Solutions with over 37 years of service. Mr. McGinnis also owned and operated Guy McGinnis Electric for over 30 years. He was well liked and respected by many in the community.
Guy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Robbin Johnson McGinnis of the home; sons, Charles Robert McGinnis and wife, Kim, of California and Adam Blake McGinnis and wife, Amber, of Morganton; grandchildren, Jessica McGinnis-Yates, Alexander McGinnis-Yates, Aaron McGinnis, Norah McGinnis, Megan McGinnis, and Gabriel McGinnis; brother, Alvin McGinnis of Morganton; sister, Jerlene Jones of Old Fort, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by a young sister.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A celebration of Guy’s life will follow in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Javier Guzman officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard.
