Gwendolyn Connelly

Gwendolyn Connelly, 72 of Morganton, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 28, 2019. Born on February 7, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Will and Marie Connelly. Gwendolyn was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She retired from Boughton Hospital. Gwendolyn was an active member of her church and in the community. She was always willing to serve and lead others to the Lord. Gwendolyn was dedicated to raising her children and grandchildren and instilling in them the importance of God, love, and family.

Gwendolyn is survived by her daughters, Barbara Evans (Andre) of Winston Salem, Michelle Martin (Lamont) of Morganton; sons, Micheal Connelly of Morganton, Marcus Connelly of Concord; special daughter, Tessie Norman (Steven); grandchildren, Sydney Surratt, Jalen Surratt, Alivia Evans, Aijah (Marie) Evans, Taylor Martin, Haylee Martin, Grant Martin, Darrian Connelly, Khayleb Connelly; great-grandchildren, Kameran Connelly, Zander Avery; sister, Maggie Davis, Ellen Connelly; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn is preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Connelly, William Connelly; sisters, Frances Woodward, Roberta Booker, Gloria Surratt, Diane Connelly.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Friday, November 1, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm in the church with Pastor Max Bristol officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
