Our beloved mother, Gwyn Triplett Conway, 83, of Morganton, NC entered eternity on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was born weighing only two pounds on February 2, 1933. To help her survive, her father built an incubator by hand. And survive she DID!!! Gwyn graduated from Lenoir High School and attended Meredith College. She was quite the social butterfly and loved recalling fun times and memories she made while becoming a young woman.
Gwyn loved life, having fun, laughing, shopping, Wolfpack football, all animals, and her family and friends. She raised her girls with discipline and determination. She did so while taking pride in her appearance and her home. Gwyn’s faith was absolute. She sang in the choir of First Baptist Church of Morganton in the 1960s. Professionally trained, she had the voice of an angel. She taught Sunday school and availed her children of all church opportunities.
Our mother was a strong role model and very disciplined. She was simply our biggest fan. One of her strongest assets was her nurturing spirit. She always knew what to do and what to say in any situation life thrust upon those in her circle. She was the perfect "nurse maid" to her family as well. As we aged, she became our best friend, confidant and shadow. Ever demonstrative and vocal, her last days were spent articulating her love for us. She was gracious, loving and caring.
We are delighted that she has entered her heavenly home to greet her parents, Erroll and Andy Triplett, her sister, Willa Dean Triplett Wilson, and her niece, Lisé Wilson Black. Our father, John Conway also preceded mom’s passing. Gwyn is survived by her daughter, Betsy Conway Blatz and her buddy and son-in law, Barry and step-granddaughters, Kimberly and Kristen, daughter, Maria Conway Clark and fiancé, Justin Brown, and grandson, John Everett Clark. Also surviving are her niece, Denise Wilson Scarboro and her husband, Phil and great nieces, Jordan and Jena.
Our family would like to graciously thank Burke Hospice for their excellent care of mother and for their guidance and love. We are ever grateful to Pearl Toms for her love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice, 1721 Enon Rd, Valdese, NC 28690, the Organ Fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Drawer 459, Morganton, NC 28680, or Burke County Friends for Animals, P.O. Box 1884, Morganton, NC 28680.
A celebration of Gwyn’s life will be held at 4:30 pm, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the chapel at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. A reception for receiving friends will follow in the church parlor following the service. At other times the family would be at Gwyn’s residence.
