H. Craig Stroupe

H. Craig Stroupe, 79, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Grace Hospital. He was born October 11, 1929 in Gaston County, NC, and was the son of the late Ralph Benjamin Stroupe and Eva Beatrice Rhyne Stroupe. Craig was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at the State Bank of Burke, Northwestern Bank, and then retired from First Union Bank in Morganton.Craig is survived by his wife, Margaret S. Stroupe of the home; a son, Ben C. Stroupe and wife, Connie, of Valdese, NC; daughters, Diane Stroupe Holbrook and husband, Tom, and Linda Stroupe Snyder and husband, Steven, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Tashia Cannon, Josh Reese, Angel Stroupe, Christopher Stroupe, Dustin Holbrook, Andrew Snyder, and Amy Snyder; great-grandchildren, Taylior Cannon, Ryker Cannon, Alexis Reese, and Garyet Reese; and sisters, Marilynn McLean and Kay Walker, both of Morganton.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Burt Wilbur officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
