Hank Jefferson Wilson

Hank Jefferson Wilson, 91, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021, with family by his side. Born in Burke County on December 27, 1929, he was the son of Reece Wilson and Claire Minuetta Crump. In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by sisters Claire Evelyn Wilson of Valdese, Adrienne Shaup and Marilyn Boyd of Lenoir; and a brother, Ivey Sherrill Wilson of Morganton.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of North Cross Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Devices and enjoyed restoring classic cars.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Luella Watts Wilson and a daughter, Cynthia (William) Pitt of St. Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jefferson (Ban), and Brian (Karlee) and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Theo Pitt, along with numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Robert Kent Wilson of Valdese, NC; sisters, Carol Puett of Morganton, NC and Martha Ellen Benfield of Drexel, NC.

"PaPa" was so loved and will be greatly missed by his family. He was truly a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a thoughtful, modest, and down-to-earth man who enjoyed being outside and working with his hands.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Charlie Crump officiating. Military honors provided by the NC National Guard. His brother, nephews, son-in-law and grandsons will honor Hank's memory as his pallbearers.
