Hardy Jerome Waters, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born on March 19, 1930, to Hayes and Minnie Duckworth Waters.

Hardy is survived by his devoted wife of almost 75 years, Mary Chapman Waters, his daughter Beth Waters Ross (Keith), his grandson Kade Ross (Mary Margaret), and his cherished great-grandchildren, Hayes and Louise Ross.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hettie Stillwell, Helen Waters, Roy Waters, Calvin Waters, Bill Waters, and John Waters.

A dedicated member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, Hardy was a man who believed in the value of hard work. He began his lifelong commitment to labor in his family's garden, progressed through the furniture industry, and eventually owned and operated his own construction and cabinetry business. Hardy found joy in gardening, woodworking, and most importantly, in spending time with his family.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Darren Browning officiating. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Amorem Hospice, honoring Hardy's legacy of care and compassion.

Hardy Jerome Waters will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for his family, and his deep faith. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and craftsmanship that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
