Harold A. Turner

Harold A. Turner, 82, of Morganton, NC died Friday, January 21, 2011 after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on September 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Jasper "Jack" Turner and Carrie Ritchie Turner. Harold was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Great Lakes Carbon for over 30 years. Harold retired from Broughton Hospital. He loved to hunt and fish until his health failed. One of his hobbies was small engine repair.Harold is survived by his wife, Yvonne Smith Turner of the home; a son, Larry D. Turner of Morganton; a daughter, Kathy Turner Tudor and husband, John, of Morganton; grandchildren, Jennifer Kincaid and husband, Chris, and Matthew Tudor; great-grandchildren, Hunter Greene and Chase Kincaid; a niece, Dian Goodnight of Morganton; and nephews, Johnny, David, and Gary Smith, all of OH.In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Turner, and sisters, Hazel Gassmann and Danese Smith.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
