Harold "H.G." Pierce

Harold "H.G." Pierce, 68, of Goodman Lake Rd., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born September 28, 1939 in St. Albans, WV, and was a son of the late Harold Arthur Pierce and Lorene Lawrence Pierce. Harold was both a US Army and US Navy veteran, and served in the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Great Lakes Carbon Corp.Harold is survived by his wife, Carolyn Massey Pierce of the home; a son, J. Michael Pierce and wife, Laura, of Morganton; daughters, Cathy Cottrell Hill and husband, Kenneth, of Thomasville, NC, and Jesseca Pierce Gammons and husband, Scott, of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Madison Gammons, Anna-Kedron Gammons, and Jordan Caroline Pierce; step-mother, Mary Pierce of Morganton; and sisters, Carolyn Bucklen of St. Albans, WV, and Judy McClanahan of Belle, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Pierce.A private funeral service will be held in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman with entombment following in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Mountain Church Association, 2221 Blevins Creek Rd., Elk Park, NC 28622. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
