Harold J. Mull

Harold J. Mull, 96 of Valdese Ave., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Britthaven of Morganton. Born in Burke County, NC on September 7, 1911, he was a son of the late Alonzo Sexton Mull and Ada Hawkins Mull. Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a former deacon. For many years, he owned and operated H. J. Mull Grocery on Valdese Ave. and was a former employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings Plants 3 & 5. He was a former councilman for the City of Morganton and was a life member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217. In his spare time, he loved to repair old clocks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Brackett Mull; a brother, Stacey Mull; and a sister, Lonnie Digh.Surviving are his daughter, Nancy O’Neal of Delano, CA; two step-daughters; a nephew, Sexton Digh of Morganton; and a niece, Juanita Chapman of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.
