Harold Whitfield Barrier

Harold Whitfield Barrier, 82, of Barrier Loop, Morganton, North Carolina died Friday, December 21, 2007 at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. In July 2006, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Polly. He was born on August 31, 1925 in Burke County and was the youngest son of the late Azor James Barrier and Augusta Henson Barrier. Mr. Barrier was a retired employee of Pet Dairy in Hickory and was a baptized member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.He is survived by his two sons, Wayne Barrier and Kenneth Harold Barrier and his wife, Cindy, all of Morganton and his three grandsons, Christopher Harold Barrier, Scott Barrier, and J. Mark Barrier, all of whom are so proud and grateful to have had such a good man as their father and grandfather. He is also survived by his sister, Pauline Barrier, of Jonas Ridge, NC.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Denton officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12: 00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church fellowship hall. His body will lie in state in the sanctuary from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at his home, 2722 Barrier Loop, Morganton. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
