Hattie H. Duckworth

Hattie H. Duckworth, 90, of Morganton died Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Born in Maryville, TN on April 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Garfield Allen Hamby and Myra Linda Stewart Hamby. Hattie was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She retired in 1980 from Broughton Hospital after 30 years of employment.A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Hattie is survived by her daughter, Paula Smith and her husband James, of Morganton; grandchildren, Kimberly Turbyfill and her husband, Tim, Jason Smith and his wife, Crystal, Tabitha Smith, Allen Smith and his wife, Tonya, and Cindy Lumpkin and her husband, James; and twelve great-grandchildren, Christopher Lumpkin, Tiffany Lumpkin, Taylor Smith, Gavin Smith, Cameron Smith, Summer Smith, Dylan Smith, Kayla Smith, Brittany Turbyfill, Katie Smith, Aaliyah Smith, and Nathaniel Smith; and a sister, Dora Mae Beshears of Shelby, NC..In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Duckworth, and five brothers, Lloyd, Claude, Jake, Roy, and Leonard Hamby.Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. At other times the family will be at the residence.
