Hazel Brown Loven, 80, of Morganton, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Born on October 19, 1937 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Solen Brown and Mary Looney Brown.
Mrs. Loven was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She was previously a member of Smyrna Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was church clerk for many years. She was a committed Christian and prayer warrior. Mrs. Loven and her husband, Dick owned and operated Steele Creek Park and Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing. She was an accomplished artist, completing over one hundred works of art, in oil and acrylic until her passing. Hazel saw beauty in the small things and loved nature. Her lovely smile would brighten even the darkest days. She was loved dearly by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry, Solen Mack, Edward, and James, Daniel Brown; sisters, Ruth Crawley and Helen Chapman; and step-son, Dennis D. Loven.
Those left to remember Mrs. Loven are, her husband, William “Dick” Anderson Loven; a daughter, Sherry Loven Wakefield and husband, Joey of Morganton; grandchildren, Chelsea Wakefield Ramsey and husband, Christopher and Marcus Anderson Wakefield; sisters, Myrtle Parker and husband, Clyde and Claudette Hood; and a brother, John Brown and wife, Pam.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Issac Propst and Rev. Ron Cooper officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
